Welcome to the "Defend Our Constitution"
website and thank you for visiting.
This website is dedicated
to defending the concepts of individual freedom and liberty and limited federal government that are outlined in the United
States Constitution.
Our individual freedom and these concepts
are being eroded by the forces of "creeping" defacto socialism as embodied in the policies enacted by the
Congress of the United States and signed into law by recent Presidents, without regard to the bounds of their legislation
as detailed in the enumerated powers clause in Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution, and without regard for the
method for amending this founding document, detailed therein.
Abraham Lincoln, in his famous 1838 Lyceum address, warned
of the source of the danger to our freedom when he stated...
"...that the tearing down of
the institutions of our government that make us unique in the world would not come by a frontal attack on our borders from
foreign foe, rather, the attack would come from within..." "At what point then is the approach of danger to
be expected? I answer, if it ever reach us, it must spring up amongst us."
Mr. Lincoln was correct. The danger is realized. Politicians,
to assimilate and sustain political power, along with socialists and collectivists, are working within our system of government
to interrupt free markets and redistribute income.
F.A. Hayek, in his landmark work
"The Road To Serfdom", noted the danger of subverting the Rule of Law, in our case the United States Constitution,
even for our form of government when he stated that "By giving the government unlimited powers, the most arbitrary rule
can be made legal' and in this way a democracy may set up the most complete despotism imaginable."
And such is America today...without an enforceable Rule of Law as a boundary and check on their power, politicians
are free to write whatever laws they deem necessary for their political ends. Politicians have changed the tax code
so that currently 40% of Americans pay no federal income tax and hence do not participate in the cost of their government.
Politicians have increasingly taken more of our income to redistribute to their voting blocks, thereby sustaining their time
in office. The taking has grown from 3% of our work year in 1900 to over 28% today...translation, politicians have
taken a full 25% of our work year for redirection to their voters for their political purposes.
Please
join us as we discuss the most important issue in the history of our country. What are the dynamics
at work in Washington that give rise to policy changes of this magnitude? Why are politicians from both parties
joining forces to implement these changes in our core government structure? What will this "new America"
look like? What can average Americans do to insure their freedom for themselves and their children?
We welcome your comments and suggestions on the political process in America,
on the pros and cons of our slide toward socialism, on the key figures and events that you think will shape America in
the future, and your comments on this website.
